         A mission trip to the Gulf coast was taken in October of 2006.  We were located in Slidell, LA. and worked on a private dwelling in the town.  Funds for this trip were raised by the Education Department as a way of kicking off the Sunday school year.  Boarding arrangements were bunking out on the floor of the First Christian Church of Slidell.  The seven-member crew worked for five days and were able to hang and paint all the doors, lay tile in all the rooms except the bedrooms, paint the living room/dining room, and generally cleaned out construction debris so that we could get started.  We worked through the Northshore Disaster Recovery organized by the United Methodists.  A member of the team was a displaced resident of New Orleans.
