Mary's Musings (April 2) Who says that the Sunday after Easter has to be a ‘low Sunday.’ We had two wonderfully attended worship services on Sunday. With most of the Easter sanctuary adornments still in place, worshipers could sense that we were still in Eastertide, still celebrating that our Lord Jesus Christ was raised from the dead. In worship we are remembering the 40 days that Jesus remained on this earth before his ascension into heaven. Our hearts remain overflowing with the love of God and Jesus our Lord. With this as the backdrop, we are lifting in prayer those young people who will begin the Pastor’s Class this Wednesday, April 2. As we assist them in their spiritual exploration of who Jesus is, what he means to Christians around the world, what he means to them in particular, and how that dedication to Christ is lived out in the Body of Christ, we pray for them as they strive toward making their confession of faith. Madeline Limbaugh, Byron Miller, and Ryan Partridge have signed up for Pastor’s Class, but please know that it is available to anyone who desires to explore what it means to call Jesus their Lord and Savior. On yet another note, I received a call just before Easter from Penny Ross-Corona, our area minister. She was calling to see how our congregation was faring with the rising flood waters. I told her that we were doing fine and did not anticipate any kind of damage. She wanted to be sure to let me know that the Week of Compassion was available to anyone who needed that assistance, and that the assistance was opened to non-church members. Please keep that in mind as folks around us continue to struggle with the damage that flood waters can and are producing.
